Dominic Slauson is an educator and AI professional committed to bridging the gap between emerging technology and practical application. As the founder of Codaptive Labs and a Generative AI Specialist at the University of California, Irvine, Dominic focuses on helping educators and organizations harness the power of AI to augment human intelligence rather than replace it.
Dominic’s approach to AI is rooted in over a decade of experience in instructional design and educational technology. Unlike tech-first enthusiasts, Dominic views AI through the lens of a verified educator. His background ranges from teaching English as a Foreign Language in Vietnam to developing virtual simulations for nursing students with the OpenRN Project and leading faculty development across the spectrum of higher education institutions.
This diverse experience allows him to translate complex technical concepts—like Large Language Models and prompt engineering—into accessible, hands-on learning experiences for non-technical audiences.
Dominic holds an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Hamline University and a B.A. in Mass Communication from UW-Eau Claire. He is a Google for Education Certified Trainer, a Quality Matters Peer Reviewer, and a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI).
Based in Lake Forest, California, Dominic balances his digital life with a love for travel and culinary exploration (especially a good curry). When not building AI workflows, he can be found exploring the world with his wife and their goofball dog.
